On investigations we use numerous pieces of equipment and undertake several experiments to provide a full and thorough investigation at any location.

Note: CPI do not endorse any beliefs or otherwise in the afterlife - that is for the

reader to decide.  Team members will never endorse a belief of any member of the public.

Experiments Undertaken:

Baseline Testing

Baseline tests are performed at the start of all investigations.  These tests include temperature tests, Electrical Magnetic Field readings and other relevant tests to get a "Base" level of the environment to check back to and compare against should activity be reported.  For example, at the start of the night the Baseline for temperature in a room may be 20 degrees, should a cold spot be reported in the same room later during the investigation, a temperature reading will be recorded and compared against the baseline, so if the new temperature is 17 degrees there will need to be further analysis as to any natural or unnatural phenomena that could have caused this temperature change.

Mediums/Sensitive's

We are fortunate in CPI to have our own team Sensitive who attends all investigations.  He is never made aware of the location before the investigation - unless its a location previously that CPI has been too - to ensure that on that first investigation we can always guarantee that any information received can be validated and is not faked in any way.  Should we visit a location again at a later date then results are obviously to be taken under further scrutiny. 

We also encourage other mediums/sensitives to attend and we approach these on an as-and-when basis.  Both CPI and our resident sensitive always encourage other mediums to join us, to ensure that there is always a none-biased opinion.

To abide by spiritualism guidelines, our sensitive always performs a prayer of protection at the start of an investigation.

ESP (Extra Sensory Perception)

This experiment is to allow an object to be identified by people on location using telepathy or peoples "Senses".  An object specific to a location is sealed in a box and its identity is only known to our parasychologist. 

During the investigation people are encouraged to identify the object using their senses.

Franks Machine (Ghost Box)

This machine is a type of radio which scans the radio waves at frequent intervals.

In this experiment, spirits are reported to answer questions using the radio transmissions to give answers to those present in the room.

This is the newest and most exciting addition to our investigation experiments and we have had some fascinating results.

EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon)

Using several recording methods such as audio and digital voice recording, we record most of our investigations.   We take particular notice of recordings made when questions are being asked to any identified spirits in a room.

When the recordings are played back there are sometimes "voices" or noises that can sometimes (but not always) be unexplained and identify activity.

Glass Divination

Glass Divination is an experiment where a glass is placed on a table and a chosen group are elected to place a finger on the glass.  Members of that group will then call out simple "Yes" and "No" questions.  For example "Is the spirit of Mary in this room with us".

Should the glass move that is interpreted as a YES response, if the glass does not move it is interpreted as NO.

Ouija Board

An Ouija Board is very similar to glass divination, in that an elected group of people place fingers on a glass and call out questions.  However, in this experiment the table also has the alphabet, the numbers 0 to 9, Yes and No and Hello and Goodbye on it.

The spirit is believed to use the elected groups energy to move the glass to the letters and numbers and spell out answers to the questions being asked.

Dowsing

Many people will be used to the idea of "Dousing" from seeing people Dousing for water.  Taking two metal rods which point forward and walking slowly over a particular area.  When the rods move and cross each other, it normally means water under foot.

In the Paranormal form of Dousing, the rods normally cross or spin should a spirit energy - or energy vortex be encountered.

Trigger Objects

A trigger object is basically an object that is left in a supposed haunted location to encourage spirits to interact with it.  The objects can be specific to a particular alleged spirit - i.e. Toys for the spirit of a child and crosses for spirits of religious nature etc.

Two most popular ways to monitor trigger object are to put the object on paper - circled it in pen or sprinkle with flour -  then left alone - if the object has moved outside the original circles or the flour disturbed they may have been moved by spirit. 

Of course for anyone to take these experiments seriously the trigger objects must not be disturbed by people on location, and therefore it is recommended that they are covered by video camera and the rooms "locked off" at all times.

Seance

A seance is usually performed by the sensitive or medium on location.  This can take the form of all attendees holding hands in a circle or sitting comfortably and the medium/sensitive will attempt to use the peoples energies and focus on contacting a spirit.

This has proved a very successful activity and has yielded many good results on location with CPI.

The seance can also be used as a spiritual workshop to encourage other members on location to try and "tune" in to the atmosphere and see what they can "pick up".

Table Tipping

Table Tipping is normally performed by a select group of people who place there finger tips on a table and call out to the spirits. 

The table can often be felt to "tap" or "lift", these actions are perceived as "Yes" answers from the spirit. 

PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS UP TO PERSONAL INTERPRETATION AS TO HOW AN INDIVIDUAL TAKES THE RESULTS OF THE EXPERIMENTS.  CPI EXPECT ALL ELECTED MEMBERS TO BE SERIOUS AND NOT ATTEMPT TO FAKE RESULTS ON ANY EXPERIMENT PERFORMED.
